Domaine Rieflé - Alsace L'arabesque 2016 Ad Quadratum
Score : 91 points
Bright straw-gold. The aromas and flavors of orange blossom, minty herbs, spices and lime speak mostly of Muscat grapes (I recognize the presence of both Ottonel and Muscat d’Alsace) while those of grilled bacon, grapefruit and honey remind me of Gewürz. Ripe and round with a saline twist but not especially lifted, this finishes saline and chewy with a finishing hint of perfumed violet. A lovely, round wine that is not classically dry (the back label reads 2 on the 1-to-4 sweetness scale, where 1 is the driest and 4 the sweetest) and is brimming with early appeal; it is not meant for long cellaring. I’d drink this blend of 66% Gewürztraminer and 34% Muscat (both Muscat Ottonel and Muscat d’Alsace) within the next two years for maximum enjoyment.
