Domaine Rieflé - Alsace Lieu - Dit Strangenberg 2017
Score : 92+ points
Deep red. Aromas and flavors of ripe red cherry, violet, dark berries and smoke. Closes long and ripe, featuring saline and flinty nuances complicated by a hint of black pepper. This was aged in 20% new oak but is so well balanced that you can hardly tell. 100% Pinot Noir (only whole bunches used). In a warm year like 2017, a late-ripening site such as the Strangenberg undoubtedly helped preserve acidity. Already outstanding, this Pinot Noir has the potential to improve considerably with bottle age.
