A certain maturity and a discerning palate are required for the appreciation of more complex, rare and sophisticated wines. Tasting an extraordinary wine is in itself an occasion to remember.
Wines of this calibre and intensity are produced in single vineyards Bihl, Steinstück, Bergweingarten, Strangenberg, or in the Grand Cru Steinert appellation which dates back to the year 1000. The wines produced in these great terroirs relay their 1000 years of history and the memory of the stones. They are destined for gastronomy and bottle ageing.
Some wines may qualify as Vendanges Tardives (Late Harvest) or Sélection de Grains Nobles (noble rot). They are produced from grapes harvested much later in the season, long after the leaves have fallen, and sometimes even after the first frosts. They are the pinnacle of the Exceptional Pleasure to be derived from Domaine RIEFLÉ's Alsace wines.
